Dr Andrew Medina-Marino is an honorary Senior Investigator at DTHF in East London. He has expertise in TB case finding and the care cascade, men’s health and STIs and HIV prevention. He is PI of 3 recently funded NIH grants, a current Bill and Melinda Gates pilot funds grant, and was PI on two successfully completed NIH studies. All of his research is centered in communities in the Eastern Cape Province. The Eastern Cape site is located at 10 Rochester Rd, Vincent, East London, Buffalo City Metro Health District (an hour flight from Cape Town and Johannesburg/Pretoria). His research includes implementation science to improve access and adherence to PrEP among adolescents, formative work on men’s health and TB, investigating the impact of TB stigma on TB outcomes, and implementing STI diagnostics into ANC services to decrease adverse birth outcomes.
