Dr. Richard Kaplan

Richard Kaplan (MD) is a Senior Researcher and Site Lead of the Desmond Tutu Health Foundation Clinical Trials Unit at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town. This state-of-the-art unit conducts HIV treatment and prevention research, including the evaluation of innovative drug formulations and antiretroviral treatment strategies, dose finding studies, drug-drug interaction, pharmacokinetic (PK) and efficacy studies with HIV prevention work focussing on prevention strategies in key populations at high risk of HIV, including young African women, men who have sex with men (MSM) and transgender women (TGW).
