Prof. Robin Wood
Professor Robin Wood (MBBCh, BSc, D.Sc. (Med), FRCP (SA)) is an Emeritus Professor of Medicine at the University of Cape Town and director of the Desmond Tutu HIV Centre at the Institute of Infectious Disease and Molecular Medicine. He gained his Medical Degree at Oxford University, his specialist medical training was completed at the University of Cape Town, followed by an Infectious Disease Fellowship at Stanford University, California.
He was a pioneer in the introduction of treatment and clinical care of people living with HIV and AIDS in South Africa. His current research is focused on the aerobiology of tuberculosis transmission and disease control. Wood is an NRF A rated scientist and has published over 500 papers and has an H rating of 101. Published papers since 2015 are 94. Citations since 2015 have been 15 539.
